Hey everybody, this is “Downtown” Johnny Brown, and you are listening to Music Sumo Podcast #032!
For those of you who don’t know by now, Music Sumo is an independent online music store dedicated to promoting and selling all independent artists’ music over the internet at www.musicsumo.com.
Music Sumo is aimed at assisting independent music artists in further promoting their careers through distribution, marketing, and promotion on the internet. Artists are now able to sell their CD’s and .mp3’s online, advertise upcoming shows and releases, and be featured on Music Sumo’s regular podcast.
Some of the key features that we have incorporated into the Music Sumo webstore are:
• A website where your fans, and the general public, can come and buy your CD’s and .mp3 digital downloads.
• A place for customers to leave reviews of your music.
• An event calendar so you can let your fans know about your upcoming gigs, CD releases, and more.
• A bulletin board system that you can use to get questions answered about the music industry, as well as help others.
• A chat room where you can interact with your fans and other musicians in realtime.
• A way to further promote your band, music, and gigs through links and banners.

What’s that you say? Digital download sales on Music Sumo?! Yes, that’s right, we finally have started incorporating digital downloads into the store! Yup, Music Sumo can now encode artists’ submitted music to sell and promote on the Music Sumo webstore at www.musicsumo.com! All .mp3 digital downloads are only $0.99 each, and they are DRM-free, which means that you can play them on all digital media players and can share them with your friends and family as much as you like! We are also encoding the files at 256 kbits/s to make sure that all of your favorite music sounds great! At this time we only have files from The Trespassers, but we are starting to add more and more music files from your favorite artists, so come on by MusicSumo.com to check out the great deals on digital downloads or to submit your music today!
With the addition of the digital downloads, fans may now start to sample every song from an artist’s album. We have decided to change the length of the individual sample clips in the store though. All music samples in the webstore are now being shortened from two minutes down to only 30 seconds. We feel that this better complies with the current overall industry standards, and allows us to store more samples of your favorite artist’s music on our servers for you to sample and enjoy for free.
We have a great show for you this time around as we had another artist visit the Music Sumo Studio. This time we had Full Time Beret stop by to talk a little bit and to play some tunes off of the new album, Status Boundary.

So, this episode we have, Full Time Beret, a project put together by singer/songwriter, Joel Cuzzi, from the San Francisco Bay Area. Full Time Beret is a message of every day survival. It is about survival being a “full-time” job regardless of what you do. The basic message of the title, “Status Boundary,” is how at times we are defined by our social status. Much of the CD is about indifference (racial, economic, religious, and social) and how we are defined by what we do, how we look, what we drive, etc. If any money is ever made on this project, the first action item will be to support various different charitable causes. Because music is largely about opinion, some people will like it and some people will not. However, Full Time Beret operates under a policy that no one is bigger than music including those who create it.
Joel was nice enough to stop by the Music Sumo Studio lately for a little sit down time and to hear some live versions of some of the tunes off of his new album, along with one tune had not yet been recorded. So, sit back and enjoy a little time with Joel Cuzzi and Full Time Beret.
