SpaceBreath – Shag

Hello, this is “Downtown” Johnny Brown and you are listening to the Music Sumo Podcast #007!

To all of you who don’t know by now, Music Sumo is an independent online music store dedicated to promoting and selling all independent artists’ music over the internet at www.musicsumo.com.

Music Sumo is aimed at assisting independent music artists, in further promoting their careers through distribution, marketing, and promotion on the internet. Artists are now able to sell their CD’s online, advertise upcoming shows and releases, and be featured on Music Sumo’s regular podcast.

Some of the key features that we have incorporated into the Music Sumo webstore are:
• A website where your fans, and the general public, can come and buy your CD’s.
• A place for customers to leave reviews of your music.
• A concert calendar so you can let your fans know about your upcoming gigs.
• A bulletin board system that you can use to get questions answered about the music industry, as well as help others.
• A chat room where you can interact with your fans and other musicians in realtime.
• A way to further promote your band, music, and gigs through links and banners.
• And more!!!

Currently we are accepting CD submissions from all musical artists for the store and if you submit your CD now you will receive 20% off the sign-up fee by entering in “sumopromo” in the coupon redemption area at the bottom of the CD submission page! So sign-up now! To find out more about Music Sumo and to take advantage of the 20% in savings visit Music Sumo today at www.musicsumo.com!!

If you don’t already know by now by the first song and/or by already listening to Music Sumo Podcast #006 that first song was from Portland, Oregon’s, SpaceBreath with Shag. And, the featured artist for Music Sumo Podcast #007 is the bassist from that group, Mo Phillips.

Now, on the last podcast I had another member from SpaceBreath here in the studio, Andy Bergeron. We had a great time hanging out in the studio with a bunch of beer, reminiscing about the old days and talking about things to come for him. We also got around to talking a little bit about SpaceBreath and that song, Shag, and this is what he briefly mentioned about the history of it:

Andy Bergeron – Interview

Anyway… SpaceBreath disbanded around 2002 and Andy and Mo each went off to work on different projects. Andy went on to play in several different bands while Mo seemed to pursue his own personal music interests by playing solo and also forming a couple of his own small groups in the Portland area. It was at about this time that Mo also made a couple trips to India and, as I understand it, ended up writing the material for his CD, “The Boat,” which is now available at the Music Sumo webstore at www.musicsumo.com. I encourage you all to come on by and check it out. It is truly an amazing album from an amazing musician and person. With that being said I think it is time for a few tracks off of Mo’s album, “The Boat.” This is Mo Phillips with Make It On Time and The Banks:

Like I said, this album is awesome! You should definitely pick up a copy at Music Sumo today! Cruise on over to Music Sumo at www.musicsumo.com to pick up a copy now!

Here is more of “The Boat.” This is Mo Phillips with Here Comes A Rogue and Hum.

Since the making of “The Boat,” Mo has gone on to becoming a husband and father and has also moved to Australia where he has continued his musical career with a couple of small groups playing originals and covers in and around the Brisbane area. If you happen to live around Brisbane you should definitely go check him out sometime. You can find out more about Mo and where he is playing next by visiting his website at www.mophillips.com.

Now, to close out the show I wanted to play the title track off of “The Boat,” but first we wanted to give a few shouts out to some websites and people who have been assisting Music Sumo and/or Recast Records lately:

First, we would like to thank Potion Factory for providing one of the best pieces of Podcasting software out right now, Podcast Maker. Podcast Maker makes our lives so much easier when it comes to posting these podcasts on the internet by enclosing all the right ID3 tags, writing the RSS code and then uploading the show all in one, automated task. Thank you Potion Factory for making Podcast Maker. Also, thank you for listing us in your featured podcasts! We have got quite a few hits coming from your website and we think that is awesome. Thank you very much!

We would also like to thank Podlounge and all of the listeners who use Podlounge at www.thepodlounge.com. We have got quite a few hits from the Podlounge directories, especially in Australia. Thank you all for listening!

We would like to thank Singing Fish, the audio and video search engine at www.singingfish.com. We actually had never heard of Singing Fish before, but we just recently started getting some pretty big traffic from them. So, thank you very much, Singing Fish!

We would also like to thank the social news networking site, Digg.com by having an article put up about us on their website. We got a few hits from you guys and a few nice comments as well. Thank you all so much for checking us out. And, if you have not already checked out Digg.com we encourage you to do so. It is a great way to get some great news about science and technology. And, they have some really, really good articles regarding the future of the music industry on there as well! Thanks Digg.com!

We also have our first promo to play… This promo is for The Dave and Matt Show at www.thedaveandmattshow.com. It is also in part a promo for Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code Podcast, which can be found at Adam Curry’s personal website www.curry.com. We personally had never heard of The Dave and Matt Show around the office, but we are going to check it out now that we heard this hilarious promo they did for Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code, which we do listen to around here every once in a while. Check it out… These are clips from Adam Curry the other day on his Daily Source Code, responding to someone on his show and their dislike of him playing a promo on his show that had the word, “fag” or “faggots” in it:

The Dave and Matt Show – Adam Curry Rant Promo

Oh man! Funny! Anyway, if you want to hear the whole show that these clips came from you should check out Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code #372 at www.curry.com. And, also check out The Dave and Matt Show at www.thedaveandmattshow.com.

Now, before we sign off we would like to also thank Andy Bergeron for coming in a few weeks ago to record Podcast #006.

We would also like to thank, last, but certainly not least, Mo Phillips, who was featured on this podcast and who is a terrific guy and a wonderful musician. Definitely check out more about Mo at the Music Sumo website at www.musicsumo.com, or at Mo’s own website at www.mophillips.com.

If you have any questions and/or comments about the Music Sumo Podast please feel free to contact us at podcast@musicsumo.com.

This is “Downtown” Johnny Brown saying farewell, and until next time, take care and have fun!

We’ll leave you off with one last tune from Mo Phillips. This is the title track off of Mo’s album, “The Boat,” which is now available at the Music Sumo website at www.musicsumo.com. This is Mo Phillips with The Boat.
