First off, we would like to deeply apologize for the problems with the podcast server a couple of weeks ago. It appears that the static wasn’t the only problem we had with the new studio set-up during Podcast #010, but we also ran into some problems while uploading the files to the server as well. It is kind of complicated, and I don’t really want to go into it right now, but I would like to point out that everything seems to be up and running smoothly now, and everything seems to be back to normal. However, we are still having some static problems with recording that we are still trying to iron out.
We think we have isolated the noise down to either one of two possible causes and hopefully we will be able to fine-tune the system a little more in the coming weeks to alleviate the static problem. Again, you might not notice it so much if you are listening through speakers, but if you are listening through headphones – sorry about that!
Since we had the problems a couple of weeks ago, and some of you kind of missed it, we are going to be reposting Devon Shane’s music video for Motorcycle in the next couple of weeks. So, keep on the lookout for it again!
This podcast though we have another female artist, but not one from the San Francisco area this time. This artist, Linda Kazmarek, comes from the other side of the country, all the way from Maryland.
Actually, Linda is a graduate of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. She is classically trained and has chosen to use her gifts in Christian Music. Her music can be described as a crossover style, which lends itself to a more contemporary classical style.
Linda has produced and recorded five CDs over the years at Omega Studios in Rockville, MD. However, it was in 2004, that Linda recorded and produced her first totally instrumental disc, “Believe,” which she recently submitted to the Music Sumo webstore, and is the disc that is featured on this installment of the Music Sumo Podcast. The disc consists of traditional music arranged by Linda, as well as original compositions by Linda herself. Actually, let’s take a listen to one of her originals right now. This is Linda Kazmarek with her title track, Believe:
You know, Linda’s music is not only featured here on the Music Sumo Podcast. Linda is in demand on traditional and internet radio stations alike. You can also find Linda’s music on Live365.com. You can also make requests for Linda’s music for airplay on WTTU, 88.5 FM at Tennessee Tech in Cookesville, Tennessee for a show that is called "Ain’t Ashamed," which airs seven hours during the week. It is hosted by Jeremy Cook and plays a variety of Gospel and Christian music. Linda’s music is also played on WFHD 91.3, a secular community radio station in Bloomington, Indiana, which hosts a Christian Radio broadcast with radio host “Jamin’” Jim Surman, (pronounced sermon). Closer to her home, Linda’s music is played on WDAC, 94.5 FM Christian Radio in Lancaster, PA and on Family Radio which broadcasts via satellite and on the internet. I believe that Family Radio is also aired over 107.9 FM in Annapolis, MD as well. Linda’s music has been played in Nazareth, Israel on “Trumpet of God Radio”, on “Caleb Radio” in Scotland, and as a part of a TV broadcast from Jakarta, Indonesia. CCM Magazine and Cross Rhythms Magazine in the UK have also given wonderful reviews her music.

Linda is available to perform for your church events, from concerts to worship services, prayer breakfast, banquets, workshops, dedications etc. She is also available for private events such as wedding receptions, anniversary celebrations, piano dedications and the like. In her community, Linda is also available to Retirement Communities, as well as charitable events. Linda seems to be playing quite a bit and actually has quite a few engagements lined up for the next couple of months:

If it didn’t seem like Linda was busy enough already with the writing, producing, recording, performing, etc. that she already does, she also teaches piano lessons in her home! Linda actually has a unique program that includes private instruction, digital lab, and computer music theory. All of this provides for her additional opportunities to “let [her] light shine.” She bases her studio policies on Christian values and requires all of her students to conduct themselves accordingly. She further encourages her students to become involved in the musical activities of their church and will even train them in the different aspects of church music.
In 2005, Linda was nominated by a former piano student to be published in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers is publishing Linda once again in 2006. This is amazing since only 4% of the nominees are selected for publication more than one time. Also this year, Linda was nominated by the same piano student to be published in Outstanding American Teachers. This publication is coming out in 2007. Teaching piano is just one additional way that Linda uses her God given gifts and talents for the glory of God. It is always a blessing for her to touch another life and inspire that person to use their gifts in a Godly way as well. God is still giving her instruction as to how He wants her to use her talents for Him.
