Music Sumo is aimed at assisting independent music artists, in further promoting their careers through distribution, marketing, and promotion on the internet. Artists are now able to sell their CD’s online, advertise upcoming shows and releases, and be featured on Music Sumo’s regular podcast.

• An event calendar so you can let your fans know about your upcoming gigs, CD releases, and more.
• A bulletin board system that you can use to get questions answered about the music industry, as well as help others.
• A chat room where you can interact with your fans and other musicians in realtime.
• A way to further promote your band, music, and gigs through links and banners.
• And more!!!

This show we have some good ol’ Bluegrass for all of you from The Trespassers, as you could probably tell by the song we started off with, “Splinter Creek Breakdown,” which is off of their new album The High Lonesome Rambler, which is now available on the Music Sumo website!

The Trespassers are a string band from the Yosemite National Park area in California. Their original music is inspired both by the beauty of their wild surroundings and by the decline of natural places like their hometown area. They trespass social and political boundaries, as well as the boundaries of musical genres. They also write and cover songs influenced by Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Gypsy-Jazz. Their aim is to travel around celebrating life; spreading a message of peace, love, respect, political revolution, social consciousness; and creative expression through song and dance. Oh yeah, and their touring vehicle is fueled by recycled veggie oil!

Actually, if you are a subscriber to the Music Sumo Podcast, or if you just check us out in iTunes or elsewhere you will find that we made The Trespassers a small video with pictures we took of their hometown area while visiting them this past summer, and also using a song of theirs, “Coyote’s Last Stand.” There are some great pictures of the East Side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains as well as some great pictures of The Trespassers rocking the Mobil Station in Lee Vining, CA. Check it out in the iTunes Music Store today!

Well, a couple days ago, Tarantula, the banjo/guitar player and vocals for The Trespassers headed down here to Oakland, from out of the hills of Mariposa, to sit down in the studio and tell us a little about the band, as well as play a bunch of tunes for us. As usual, we grabbed some beer, fired up the mics, and shot the shit. Here is what he had for us…

Unfortunately, it was getting late and by the time we left the studio for our break we didn’t really feel like heading back, so we cut the interview off there. I am sure that we will get Tarantula, and possibly the rest of The Trespassers, in the studio again soon though!

Actually, The Trespassers are getting geared up for some shows coming up in January, so keep on the lookout for them in your area! To keep up to date with what they are up to you can visit their official website at www.thetrespassers.com. Also, if you liked what you heard you can pick up a copy of their new album, The High Lonesome Rambler, at the Music Sumo website today at www.musicsumo.com.

I think that is it for Music Sumo Podcast #015, before I leave you though, I’ll play one more tune from The Trespassers. This is a tune that Tarantula played while here in the studio. This is “Roots & Stone,” which you can find on The Trespassers new album, The High Lonesome Rambler, which is now available at the Music Sumo webstore at www.musicsumo.com.

This is “Downtown” Johnny Brown saying take care everybody, and remember to always have fun!
