Anyway, let’s get this party started… In our very first podcast we played some tunes from a very dear friend of mind from the East Coast of the United States. A great singer/songwriter, we have Michelle Lewis with “Caroline,” “This Time Around,” and “Midnight” from her album, This Time Around.
The next few songs by Farma never officially made it out to CD before they broke up several months ago, but they are rockin’ nonetheless. This is Farma with “Crucifixion,” “Century City,” “Plastic Moon,” “Seaside Hotel,” and “American Sun.” Farma – Crucifixion
Music Sumo Podcast #006 was a great one since we were able to have our first guest in the studio. It was Andy Bergeron from the Portland, OR band, Üai. Andy has been in many projects in the Portland, OR area actually, including SpaceBreath, a rockin’ band from the 90’s.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have any SpaceBreath for sale at Music Sumo as of yet, but Andy was nice enough to let us use some of their music in Music Sumo Podcast #006 anyways. So, this is SpaceBreath with “Come On,” “Saturday,” “Hurricane,” and “Shag.”
SpaceBreath – Come On
SpaceBreath – Saturday
SpaceBreath – Hurricane
SpaceBreath – Shag
Since Andy was able to make it in to our studio for an interview in Music Sumo Podcast #006 we were also able to record him live as he played some songs for us. So, this is Andy Bergeron with “That’s Alright Mama” and “I Got A Woman.”
Finally, we got around to playing some songs from Andy’s newest project, Üai. They are some great ethereal journeys that are all laid out on their album, Wee One. Here is Üai with “Kings & Queens,” “Spike,” “More,” and “Crum’s Butterfly Song.”
Next, we met a truly talented musician who used to play with Andy quite a bit. I am talking about the great Mo Phillips, who once played the Portland, OR scene, but has since moved down under to Australia. Mo recorded a really great CD a few years back, called The Boat, that is available on the Music Sumo website at www.musicsumo.com. I highly recommend that you check it out when you get a chance. Actually, let’s give you that chance right now! This is Mo Phillips with some tunes off of his album, The Boat. This is “Make It On Time,” “The Banks,” “Here Comes A Rogue,” “Hum,” and “The Boat.”
We were then met by the wonderful, Devon Shane, from the San Francisco Bay Area. Devon was the first artist to include a music video for her song, “Motorcycle,” to go along with Music Sumo Podcast #010. The video was beautifully done at sites around the San Francisco area and, of course, includes Devon in it. Check out the video by clicking on the “Subscribe in iTunes Here” link, or simply use a podcast program, such as Apple’s iTunes to download the video. It is really cool. Check it out. So, Devon submitted her CD, Eruption, and along with her CD submission she submitted several tunes to play on the Music Sumo Podcast. So, this is Devon Shane with “Tiptoe,” “Radiate,” “Motorcycle,” “Eruption Of Rhythm,” and “Silver Dream.”
Music Sumo Podcast #011 brought us our second religiously based music with Linda Kazmarek. Linda is just a wonderful person with a beautiful soul who is an award-winning teacher and a wonderful pianist. She is currently the Minister of Music at Helethorpe-Relay UMC in Helethorpe, MD and plays often in that area. Linda submitted her CD, Believe, and with it the songs “Believe,” “88 Keys of Praise,” and “Faith.”
Our second guest into the Music Sumo Studio was Buffy in Music Sumo Podcast #013. Buffy had traveled up to the Bay Area from Los Angeles to perform some shows and stopped into the studio after one of her gigs to promote her new CD, Highs & Lows, which, of course, can be found on the Music Sumo website at www.musicsumo.com. Buffy also was nice enough to play a live tune that is not on her album called, “Beautiful Illusion.” This is Buffy with “Lock Stock,” “Beautiful Illusion,” and “Everywhere I Go.”
And, last, but not least, we brought in an awesome live Bluegrass band from the Yosemite, CA area, The Trespassers. The Trespassers have been playing around California area quite a bit in the past year and have just signed with Recast Records to handle more booking for them in the future. They will be playing quite a bit in 2007, even including a date at the Fillmore in San Francisco Saturday, January 27th. They should hopefully be playing a few festivals around the West Coast in the summer of ’07 as well. Be on the lookout for these guys. They are a great live band that should not be missed if you are ready to get your groove on! Check out www.thetrespassers.com for more info and dates in your area!
Phew! Well, that is pretty much all the music we played this year on the Music Sumo Podcast all rolled up into one huge show. We hope you were able to hold in there this long and we hope that you enjoyed the whole year as much as we enjoyed bringing the music to you! Please stay tuned in the upcoming year as we are preparing to implement some new features to the Music Sumo webstore soon!
Take care everyone! Happy Holidays and happy New Year from all of us at Music Sumo. This is “Downtown” Johnny Brown signing off for the year 2006 and look forward to bringing you new music in the near future! Look for us in 2007!
