In Music Sumo Podcast #018 and #019 we learned about the Blues stylings of Graveyard Jackson and Ronno Jaxon. Now, it is time to learn more about SCOS.
SCOS’ album, Small Circle Of Stones, is an all-acoustic, magical musical whirlwind of song. This eclectic collection of original songs features mandolin, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, 12-string guitar, acoustic bass, and percussion. There are plenty of Wiccan / Pagan influences to revel in and plenty of Country, Bluegrass, Blues, and Rock with vocals/chants and lyric imagery. These songs are meant to be played live in the outdoors at gatherings and circles. There is a ’merry’ feel to the music that calls for dance.
In the following set SCOS will take you on a little journey… “Darkside” opens the set with good country rocking with great slide guitar. This is bound to get you up and dancing. Next, “Draw Down The Moon” is a catchy acoustic rocker with great witchy lyrics. Then, “Hagride” is spellbinding with images of Siberian / Native American Shaman in the great circle. “Kickin’ The Wind” gets you up and dancing once again with more great guitar and mandolin solos. Finally, “Hagride (Séance Version)” is an ambient remix that is guaranteed to send chills round the circle. It has gypsy tambourines and rattles that come out of the errie mix.
Prepare to go on a mystical journey with Rora Records, SCOS: SCOS – Darkside
